About Us
Since 1985, the Cape Coral Emergency Physicians, a dedicated group of Board Certified Emergency Physicians have been accepting the challenge of delivering high quality emergency services to the residents of Cape Coral and the surrounding communities.
In 1985 Cape Coral Hospital had a 5 bed emergency department and Cape Coral had a population of less than 60,000 residents. Today Cape Coral has a population of over 180,000 and has one of the busiest Emergency Room in Lee County treating over 80,000 patients a year.
Rededicated in 2005 as the Weigner Taeni Center for Emergency Services, the emergency room has expanded with a new 15 room Fast Track area. This fast track unit provides treatment for minor care issues including lacerations, fractures and other non-life threatening injuries. The area is manned with a physician and a mid-level provider and is equipped to provide all radiology and laboratory services within the department.
The emergency physicians are complimented with a staff of highly skilled mid-level providers such as Physician Assistants and Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners. Together they treat the patients of Cape Coral from minor injuries and illnesses to life threatening emergent care.
We are proud to have been a part of the Cape Coral community for over 30 years and look forward to serving the needs of the residents in the years to come.

Q: I did not see a physician while in the emergency room why am I receiving a bill for service from them?
A: You may have been treated by a Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C) or by an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP). These highly trained, licensed and certified professionals are employed by the physician group and assist the physicians in the department by seeing and treating patients. Each patient case is reviewed with the Physician on duty who may or may not physically get involved in your care but has reviewed films, lab results and other diagnostic tests and agrees with the treatment plan and disposition the mid level provider has formulated
